Introduction
The Recruit Academy is a 12-week program consisting of classroom and hands-on field application and training. This program meets or exceeds all requirements set by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and NFPA Standard 1001, Firefighter I and II under IFSAC and NPQS.

The Recruit Academy of the Emergency Services Training Institute is committed to developing the premier candidate for the fire service through intense classroom and physical training as well as state-of-the-art hands-on application.
History
Since 1971 the Recruit Academy has been a vital part of the Municipal Fire Training Program. This program, rich in history, has thus far produced more than 3,500 certifiable firefighters. Students from all over the state of Texas, the United States, Canada, Spain, Kuwait, Finland, Ireland, Brazil and Saudi Arabia have completed this intense and challenging class for one reason only: "To become the best firefighter!"
Course Topics
The Recruit Academy program is conducted through student participation, operational classes, field exercises and scenarios, and classroom exercises and discussions. The following topics are covered during the course:
Fire Science Technology Degree Program
Receive college credit for the TEEX Recruit Academy and be eligible to apply for financial aid by enrolling in the Blinn College Fire Science Technology Degree program.
