The Advanced IM/UC course trains emergency response supervisors and mid-to-upper-level managers in the skills necessary to effectively plan for and manage a large-scale incident by applying and implementing an all-hazards, multi-disciplinary, command and management team approach as described in the National Incident Management System’s (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS), Multiagency Coordination Systems, and Public Information Systems, with specific emphasis on the incident planning and resource management processes. The course concludes with a practical application, role-play exercise that is customized to the community in which the course is delivered.

Participants should come from “middle and senior management”; i.e. emergency response managers, first-line supervisors, and administrators who will function as incident commanders, ICS/ Unified Command staff members, emergency management coordinators, or emergency operations center (EOC) staff members, or supervise those who do.
