This course is designed to give students hands-on experiences using various types of cable-locating equipment. The course also familiarizes the student with various switching procedures (single- and three-phase). After successfully completing this course, participants are able to perform switching procedures required for single- and three-phase underground systems, perform grounding procedures, use fault-locating equipment to locate faults on both primary and secondary cables, and locate cable routes accurately. TEEX is authorized by IACET to offer 2.4 CEUs for this program.
Topics covered in the course include:
Troubleshooters, service crew members and customer complaint specialists
Required Equipment: Hard hat, rubber gloves, work gloves, work boots, eye protection, rain gear. Personal test equipment can be brought IF in good working condition.
Recommended: Minimum 2 years experience in underground distribution and completion of the Underground Electrical Installation course (EPP004) and the Underground Electrical Systems course (EPP006).
