IMPORTANT PREQUISITE: In order to participate in this course, the student MUST be an experienced wood pole climber as verified by ONE of the following:
NOTE: The student will NOT be registered for the course until the prerequisite is met.
This hands-on, skills-based course trains you in safe work procedures for the construction of a three-phase overhead electrical distribution system with a single-phase tap. You work as a crew member to complete the installation of a typical overhead electrical system to include setting poles, anchors and guys, stringing out conductors and sagging in conductors. At the completion of this course, you are able to work as a member of a crew to safely load and haul poles to a job site; unload the poles; properly frame the poles according to a staking sheet; safely set the poles; install anchors and guide wires; identify the proper conductor; string out, layup, and sag the conductor in accordance with the appropriate wire sag charts; and properly apply various types of ties on the conductors. TEEX is authorized by IACET to offer 2.8 CEUs for this program.
