Course Description

XTN043 - Emergency Vehicle Response Safety Program - 4.00 Hours

Description

Every year we continue to have vehicle accidents involving our own emergency vehicles. Emergency vehicle drivers are serving prison sentences at a higher incidence each year. Are we providing the services we have pledged to the public we serve if we can’t get to the scene in a safe and proficient manner?

he program includes an interactive lecture/discussion and addresses the following areas:

1. Following Distance and Rate of Closure

2. Civilian Drivers Yielding the Right-of-Way

3. Intersection Crossing Procedures

4. Red Lights and Sirens – Use and Misuse

5. Operator Awareness
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:

Understand the civil, criminal, and punitive aspects of operating an emergency vehicle

Define the legal terms associated in emergency vehicle operations

Identify the five critical areas essential for emergency vehicle response.
