XTN043 - Emergency Vehicle Response Safety Program - 4.00 Hours

Description


Every year we continue to have vehicle accidents involving our own emergency vehicles. Emergency vehicle drivers are serving prison sentences at a higher incidence each year. Are we providing the services we have pledged to the public we serve if we can’t get to the scene in a safe and proficient manner?

he program includes an interactive lecture/discussion and addresses the following areas:

  • 1. Following Distance and Rate of Closure
  • 2. Civilian Drivers Yielding the Right-of-Way
  • 3. Intersection Crossing Procedures
  • 4. Red Lights and Sirens – Use and Misuse
  • 5. Operator Awareness
    Upon completion, the participant will be able to:
  • Understand the civil, criminal, and punitive aspects of operating an emergency vehicle
  • Define the legal terms associated in emergency vehicle operations
  • Identify the five critical areas essential for emergency vehicle response.
