Course Description


PER211 - Medical Management of CBRNE Events - 16.00 Hours

Prerequisites

Participants must work in one of the disciplines/services listed below. Participants are recommended to complete a terrorism awareness course as well as the EMS Basic Concepts for WMD Incidents Course found on the internet at www.teexwmdcampus.com.

Description

This course will equip first responders and first receivers with the skills needed to ensure proper patient triage, treatment, and transportation in the event of exposure to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) weapons. The course delivery methodology consists of facilitated discussions, small group exercises, hands-on activities, and task oriented practical applications using both adult and pediatric human patient simulators to promote critical thinking skills while utilizing the RAPID Care concept. Exercises conducted in a CBRNE scenario will reinforce classroom lectures and interaction. Participants will use their training to demonstrate proper techniques for assessment, triage, mass decontamination considerations, treatment and stabilization. In addition, course participants will receive training on the proper techniques for protecting themselves and limiting cross-contamination.
