Course Description


RES020 - NFPA 1006 2008 Edition Trench Rescue Levels I & II Training - 40.00 Hours

Prerequisites

For national Pro Board certification, the following are the minimum certification requirements as defined by the NFPA standards and the Texas Engineering Extension Service/Emergency Services Training Institute (TEEX/ESTI):
  • Rope Rescue Level I certification , NFPA 1006, Standard For Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications, Chapter 6
    Or
  • Confined Space Rescue Level I certification, NFPA 1006 Standard For Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications, Chapter 7
  • Participants must pass Trench Rescue Level I to receive certifications For Trench Rescue Level II.

    Description

    Upon the successful completion of this course, emergency responders will have the skills and knowledge required for cerrtification to Chapter 8, "Trench Rescue, " as described in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1006, Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications (2008 edition), including the areas of confined space rescue operations, utilizing appropriate equipment, methodologies, protocols, and patient and resource management techniques. Participants who successfully complete the course and pass the required written skills test to receive a Natioanl Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board) national certifications.

    Audience

    This course is targeted for all emergency responce personnel involved with technical rescue incident reponse and is designed to meet the training requirements of NFPA 1006 Chapter 8 Job Performance Requirments (JPR).

    Other Information

    Equipment Needed: Helmet, leather gloves, eye protection, boots with safety toe. Due to the nature of the training, a physical examination and fit test is recommended prior to enrolling in this course. Courses will begin at 8 a.m. on the first day of class unless other arrangements have been made.

    Fees must be paid prior to or on the first day of class unless other arrangements have been made. Fees do not include lodging or meals.

    ANNUAL INDUSTRIAL FIRE SCHOOL

    Class Limit: 20 students
    Class hours:

      Sunday 1:00 p.m. - 5.00 p.m.
      Mon - Thurs: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
      Friday: 7:30 a.m. - until finished w/testing.
    PPE Requirement: Level 2
    Go to www.teex.com/firesafety to read details in the TEEX Student Safety Manual. All students are required to follow this manual at all times.
    Students should bring the same type of clothing as worn on normal duty at their plant, including bunker gear which is NFPA 1971 compliant.

    A late fee of $50.00 will be assessed to payments made after the registration deadline for the Annual Fire School classes.
