COLLEGE STATION – The Texas Engineering Extension Service is celebrating the 135th graduation ceremony of the Central Texas Police Academy Friday, June 10, at 3 p.m. at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center located adjacent to the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum.
Of the 29 graduating cadets, more than a third will be working in the Brazos Valley, serving for the Bryan Police Department, the Texas A&M University Police Department and the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office.
The recruits have logged 680 hours of training in the past 17 weeks, learning everything from firearms management and self-defense tactics to Texas state law and emergency driving techniques.
Graduates of the TEEX police academy have a 99 percent initial passing rate on the Texas State Peace Officer licensing examination and are recruited by law enforcement agencies in the Bryan-College Station area, as well as throughout Texas.
In operation since 1940, the Central Texas Police Academy is the oldest continuing statewide law enforcement extension training agency in Texas.
