State Representative Armando Martinez of Weslaco and Hildalgo County Judge J.D. Salinas will travel to College Station on Thursday to personally thank the urban search and rescue professionals who positioned their resources in South Texas ahead of a once-threatening Hurricane Dean.

The Texas Engineering Extension Service, or TEEX, coordinated the state's largest-ever search and rescue response related to Hurricane Dean, including the deployment of its own Texas Task Force 1.

Media are invited to cover the remarks from Rep. Martinez and Judge Salinas, a graduate of Texas A&M University, as well as interview these two gentlemen afterward. The remarks begin 11:30 a.m. at the Oakwood Ballroom in the Hilton College Station & Conference Center, located at 801 University Drive East.

Also addressing the responders will be Dr. G. Kemble Bennett, vice chancellor of Engineering at Texas A&M University. Bennett is founder of Texas Task Force 1.
