Rep. Kolkhorst to recognize Tarlton Supply

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – State Rep. Lois Kolkhorst will present Brenham-based Tarlton Supply with the Springboard Award on behalf of the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) in a ceremony on Wednesday, April 12, at 10 a.m.

Tarlton Supply is being recognized for the company’s support of manufacturing, the Brenham community and TMAC services. Founded in 1980, Tarlton Supply offers precision machine work in a wide range of metals and plastics; welding and fabrication of steel, aluminum and other materials; mechanical assembly and electronic/electrical assembly and testing; and turnkey contract manufacturing. Tarlton Supply is located at Highway 290 at 3140 Horton Street in Brenham and employs 160 people.

TMAC works to enhance the competitive position of the state’s manufacturing sector. TMAC's manufacturing professionals work with a wide range of industrial firms, delivering training, providing technical assistance and implementing best business practices. TMAC’s particular emphasis is on the needs of small to mid-sized manufacturers. Focus areas include lean manufacturing and lean office principles, strategic management, quality systems, environment and safety.

TMAC is an affiliate of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) program of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which provides federal funding. TMAC consists of seven partner institutions delivering services statewide. The Texas partners are: the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) , a member of The Texas A&M University System; The University of Texas at Arlington; The University of Texas at El Paso; The University of Houston; Southwest Research Institute; Texas Tech University; and The University of Texas-Pan American.
